Make the most of your stay by taking in some of the historic sites and architecture Lincoln
has to offer. Both the Castle and Cathedral were founded by the Norman's and expanded throughout
the Middle Ages.
The Cathedral is a magnificent sight, especially in the evening light when it is flood-lit.
Definitely not to be missed. Visit the Cathedrals official website here

Instigated by William the Conqueror in 1068 the Castle has had a colourful past and is where Lincoln's
own copy of the Magna Carta which was sealed by King John at Runnymeade in 1215 can be found.
A little way out of Lincoln is Gainsborough Old Hall, a magnificent timbered Medieval Manor House used by
the Pilgrim Fathers before they set out for the New World. Headsets are available to use as you walk around
to give you the sounds of a bygone era.
Try the Usher Gallery. A collection of Glass, coins, watches, water colours by Peter de Wint, J M W Turner
and contemporary artists such as Lowry. The gallery has a changing programme of exhibitions throughout the
year.
For the energetic, take a stroll around the city with a guide to show you all the interesting and perhaps
not so well known facts about Lincoln. For the less energetic try a river trip or even a ghost walk. Those
with an interest in history the "New" Collections exhibition has now opened & is only seven
minutes walk from the hotel.
There is so much to see and do that a short Lincoln Break is just not long enough to see everything. Most
places of interest are only a short stroll from the Hillcrest Hotel, which means that you can leave your
car here for most, if not all of your stay with us. Relax and enjoy a wonderful City and its friendly people.
For those staying for 2 or more days then the Time Travel Pass is a very worthwhile purchase from the
Hillcrest Hotel or Tourist Information Centres. Giving access to Lincoln Cathedral, Castle, Museum of
Lincolnshire Life & much more. This pass for a family of 2 adults & up to 3 children is £20, really
great value.
